Which vaccinations we offer

Our trained, registered pharmacist administers the seasonal flu vaccine for adults on-site, right here in the pharmacy. If you need a vaccine we do not provide, we will happily advise you on the best place to get it.

Who can get the flu vaccine free of charge

Under the HSE programme, the flu vaccine is provided free of charge to people in at-risk groups, including:

  • Adults aged 65 and over
  • People with a long-term condition such as diabetes, asthma, or heart, lung, liver or kidney disease
  • Pregnant women, at any stage of pregnancy
  • Carers, and people who live with someone at higher risk
  • Healthcare workers
Not sure if you qualify?

Just ask us. We can check in a moment whether you are eligible for a free flu vaccine, so you do not miss out.

What to expect, and aftercare

The whole visit takes just a few minutes. The pharmacist confirms you are suitable, answers any questions, and gives the vaccine into your upper arm. We ask you to wait a couple of minutes afterwards, just as a precaution. A mildly sore arm for a day or two afterwards is completely normal and settles quickly.

When is the best time to get it

Aim for the autumn, before flu begins circulating, so your body has time to build protection. That said, it is never too late in the season - if you have not had yours by the new year, it is still well worth getting.

When should I get vaccinated?

Autumn is ideal, before flu starts circulating, but it is worth getting any time during the season.

Are there side effects?

A sore arm for a day or two is the most common. Serious reactions are very rare, and our pharmacist is trained to manage them.
